The Great Sand Box Trip

Beautiful Sangre de Cristo mountains.
It got a little windy, and boy does that sand hurt when it whips into you.
The kids had a great time running down the dunes and rolling around in the sand.
There were lots of bugs in camp. They were not even deterred by our high deet spray.
When we got home they were counting and comparing bug bites.
The Camp Chef
There was a beautiful sunset over the dunes.
The next day: We hiked to Zapata Falls.
you can see the dunes in the background It was beautiful, but the water was COLD!
Aaron Dave and Josh climbed up the slippery rocks to the base of the falls
Then a storm rolled in and we went home early :) Rain on the Dunes as we were leaving the park.
Overall it was a great trip.
We are going to go again next May, before the mosquitoes are bad and to play in the seasonal creek!
