We ended up being evacuated at 11pm due to the fire...but we are safe and well. We know several families who had the fire come literally up to their BACK DOOR! We are so grateful to the brave FIREFIGHTERS who stayed up all night battling wind and fire to protect our property.
Yesterday we were all really worn out. We "lost" my mom's cat. Some wonderful friends put us up while we were evacuated. (they even gave up their own bed) However, the cat disappeared from there garage! We spent hours looking for the darn thing. I have been hoping she would die(she's really really old), but when she was GONE I felt really bad for my Mom. The cat keeps her company, and she would be so lonely with out her. Luckily she turned up later the following evening.
The hardest thing about waking my kids up in the middle of the night was when Ari asked, "Mom are we going to die?" And he was so sincere and didn't really sound scared. I quickly let him know that the reason we were asked to leave was so that we would not die. We were asked to leave BEFORE there was a risk of death!
